Honor Flight Houston Applications
Veteran Application: Honor Flight Houston recognizes American veterans for your sacrifices and achievements by flying you to Washington, D.C. to see YOUR memorial at no cost. Top priority (for which we are currently accepting applications) is given to World War II and terminally ill veterans from all wars. For what you and your comrades have given to us, please consider this a small token of appreciation from all of us at Honor Flight Houston. If you know of someone who is a World War II veteran or any veteran with a terminal illness, please fill out an application and send to the above. And remember, every World War II veteran flies free. Spouses are NOT allowed on any national Honor Flight.
Guardian Application: (There is a guardian fee) Guardians are essential to the success of the Honor Flight Houston program. Without these volunteers, we would not be able to carry out the dreams of so many World War II and other veterans, enabling them to see the memorials built in their honor. Even before the veterans arrive at the airport, the guardian's responsibilities begin with flight preparation and going over the veteran's packets of material. Once the veterans start to arrive, guardians will ensure boarding passes and IDs are available, distribute Honor Flight Houston T-shirts, get veterans through security and to the gate, assist in boarding, etc. From the moment the veterans are in our hands until the point we return them to their loved ones upon return, guardians will be asked to treat these heroes as if they are family and ensure that every veteran has a safe, memorable, and rewarding experience. Guardians are volunteers and are expected to pay for their trip. Because of the significant role the guardian plays in our program, we will provide training sessions for all guardians prior to participating in one of our trips, helping every single veteran in America, willing and able of getting on a plane or a bus, visit THEIR memorial.
Volunteer Application: Honor Flight Houston is basically a volunteer program created to honor our veterans for all they have sacrificed to make this a better world. Without the support of these volunteers, there is no way that we would be able to provide the opportunity to fly our heroes to Washington, D.C. to see the memorials created in their honor. Examples of volunteer positions include sending off the veterans at the airport in the morning and welcoming them home at the end of the trip with a cheering reception; answering office phones and entering application info into the data system; mailing requested material and purchased merchandise; as well as contacting veterans and guardians to make arrangements based on our projected flight schedules. If you would like to volunteer your services, please contact us. You can be a part of making our veterans' dreams a reality. You can make a difference.
